A long time coming

So, it's been a LONG time since I've updated this thing. My apologies to the 8 people who look at it.

I've been pretty busy since my last post. The highlight since then has definitely been shooting the USA Olympic baseball team. I've posted a few images. Though I did (of course) take the shot of LaPorta in front of the American flag, I really can't take the credit for that setup. That was entirely Phil Ellsworth's creation. Thanks to him for letting me shoot it.

On Thursday, July 31, I shot portraits then shot the games Friday through Monday night. The team was great to work with and I'm hoping they do well at the Olympics. You can follow them here: http://www.usabaseball.com/

Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner and his band, Modern West, were at the DBAP today, so I spent about half the day following him around. Fireworks were supposed to cap off the night, but a bad thunderstorm put an end to that. And when I say bad, I mean bad! Water ran down the steps of the dugout and into the clubhouse and the power was knocked out, leaving everyone in the dark and stranded in the stadium. Power lines and trees were down all over the place. Pretty crazy, but I had a good time shooting and got some decent shots, so I'll call it a good day.

USA Baseball and a Wedding

More USA Baseball this weekend. Shot the National Team at the Cary complex and DBAP on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I've posted one of them. It was HOT! My nose is already peeling from all the sun. I shot Saturday with Phil Ellsworth, a new photographer to the area from California. He was very generous with his lights, so thanks to him in big part for the shot you see here.

Had a wedding Friday night. Congratulations to Tiffany and Rick! I haven't had much time to go through their stuff, but maybe I can get one up soon.

On a different note, I've determined that I really need an ultra wide zoom...at least a better one than I've got. The only problem is, of course, $$$$$.

BUSY WEEK!

It's been a busy week! I've had two USA Baseball shoots, the Carolina Kids Classic and I have a Bulls game Friday night. That'll be 4 shoots in as many days.

The Tournament of Stars is what I shot for USA Baseball. Some of the best high school players in the country are playing. I was essentially doing team photos and individual portraits (they didn't want anything really creative, so they're just the standard stuff). I've posted a sample.

The Carolina Kids Classic is a golf tournament I really look forward to every year because I get to see Coach Smith! Of course, Roy and Butch Davis aren't bad either! It was a great day for golf, weather-wise. Not too hot, in other words! It's a great event that raises money for the Ronald McDonald House, The Childhood Trust, and the North Carolina Children's Hospital. Check 'em out at: http://www.carolinakidsclassic.org/ Here's Smith, Williams and Davis with the nearly 1/4 million dollar check!

Man, I'm tired...I've shot about 3,200 frames in the last three days!

Lori and Adam's Wedding

I shot a wedding last weekend up in the awesome North Carolina mountains. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony. I've posted one of my favorite shots from the day. Check it out. And congratulations to Lori and Adam!

To know what I'm doing would be nice

So, I've been trying for quite some time now to figure out how to best integrate a slideshow feature into my website. The only problem is that I'm too picky about what I want. Oh yeah, and the other (bigger) problem is that I don't have a clue what I'm doing! I guess ignorance can be a real problem.

I should stick to photography and stay away from web design of any kind!

FIRST BLOG!

Ok, so I'm jumping on this blogging bandwagon late, but better late than never! Actually I'm just testing the waters to see how it goes.

Lately, I've just been trying to get a website up and running, which I've done. It's a rough draft and I hope to change it in major ways in the coming months, but it'll do for now. I'll be sure to let you know when I make the big change. I need to make a few smaller changes to hold me over. BUT at the rate it takes me to figure something out, even that will take a while!

Photography-wise, I've shot a lot of Durham Bulls games in the last month, but not any in the last few days. I have a wedding this coming Saturday up in the mountains, which I'm really looking forward to! Should be fun. I'll be sure to post a photos from that early next week, so check back!!
As for the picture above, that's what I wish I was doing!
Oh, to be on the water...
